Declaration of Independence
2.23.2005
Poems are technically longer than what we know them to be. What we regard as poems are actually called 'short poems'. Epics for instance are the real poems. Somehow, the meaning of poems, and what is 'poetic' for that matter is subject to the school of thought that criticizes it. Or politically, who is in power to define it.
The Philippine poetic scene is similar, there is much politics there, in as much as our showbiz, our government, business organizations and just about everything is ridden with politics. Well, of course, semantically, every thing is political, but that's beside the point.
The idea is economyof words in any poem, unless otherwise needed to give more meaning. I am stil working on that part of the craft. But here is what you can call, a very short short poem, if you will permit me to call it so:
Declaration of Independence
Do not call me indiosyncratic;
I am not part of your hypocracy.
;-) Maybe I'l talk about love next time, it's getting too political here. LOL.
